Teen hospitalized in St. Pete shooting

Posted: Updated:
ST PETERSBURG, FL -

An 18 year old girl has been hospitalized with a gun shot wound to the head after St. Petersburg police found her at a Checkers restaurant early Sunday morning.

Authorities say they received several calls about shots being fired in the area of 66th Avenue North and 14th Street North. While responding to that area they also received information that a victim of that shooting had arrived at the Checkers restaurant at 6200 MLK Street South.

There they found 18 year old Rubi Rosado who is now in stable condition at Bayfront Hospital.

Police say Rosado was originally with a group of men, including her boyfriend, who had driven to a home at 6603 14th Street North to resume an ongoing dispute with the occupants of that house. After their arrival, a fight broke out outside the home and shots were fired. Rosado, who was sitting in her boyfriends car, was struck in the head by a bullet.

Her boyfriend then drove to Checkers and called for assistance. Detectives are still trying to determine who fired the gunshots.
