Locals strike against possible war in Syria

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

It would be a war fought continents away, but many locals still have concerns if the United States were to go to war with Syria.

Protestors held signs that said "Strike poverty not Syria" as they stood on the corner of Mountcastle Drive and North Roan Street Saturday afternoon calling the attention of people as they drove by. The protesters also handed out informational flyers for those walking by on foot. These protesters are a organized group of locals who feel that our government should pay more attention to other issues rather than start a war in Syria.

"We think our government ought to be spending money on jobs, healthcare and education and not on war." said organizer Dennis Prater.

Prater also said if the U. S. were to start war in Syria they will plan another strike.
