PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Pasco County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 73-year-old retiree on child pornography charges.

Detective Anthony Bossone said investigators caught Denton Croft red-handed when they went to his home in the gated Millpond Lakes community in New Port Richey.

"When we looked at the machine he was on, he was downloading child pornography. He was trading, meaning people were downloading from him and he also had videos up where he was viewing them," Bossone said.

The sheriff's office has been investigating Croft for a month. When they seized his computer, they found hundreds of images and videos of children and infants.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said cases like this one concern him.

"The biggest fear with child pornographers is when they're going to act on it," Nocco said. "When they're going to go out there and their dreams are going to become a reality."

The Sheriff's Office doesn't believe any of the children seen in the images are local, but they will be analyzing everything on Croft's computer.

Bossone said Croft did not seem surprised to be arrested.

"He wasn't upset," Bossone said. "He didn't show much emotion at all, to be honest with you."

But Croft's family had a different reaction.

Outside his home, relatives said this is a difficult and embarrassing time for them. Croft has a wife, but investigators don't believe she knows anything about what was on his computer.

Croft is facing one count of promoting sexual performance by a child, and one count of possession of child pornography.

An attorney representing Croft told News Channel 8 Thursday afternoon that Croft denies all of the allegations.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
