Serve for a Cure tennis tournament starts Sept. 17

Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., and Liberty Bell Tennis Center, 505 Liberty Bell Blvd., will host a Serve for a Cure Tennis Tournament Sept. 17-21 for ages 16 and older.

Main draw will be held at Memorial Park Community Center and Liberty Bell Tennis Center. Matches will be played Tuesday through Friday evenings. The event will feature team-style tennis consisting of a four-player minimum (two men/two women) with a maximum of six players per team. Each match will consist of three doubles matches: Ladies, Men's, and Co-Ed. In order to advance, a team must win two out of three matches. Tournament fee: $100 per team or $25 per player.

All proceeds will benefit American Cancer Society Patient Services. The tournament is sponsored by Johnson City Parks and Recreation, Mountain Empire Tennis Association, and Mountain States Health Alliance.

  • Dinner/Dance: Memorial Park Community Center, Saturday, Sept. 21, 6-10 p.m.
