TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A lockdown at several Tampa was lifted around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday as police searched for an armed suspect at 26th Street and East Chelsea Street.

A School Resource Officer was directing traffic outside the Ferrell Middle School around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday when shots rang out.

Police said the officer saw two teenagers on a bike near the intersection of East Chelsea and 25th Street. The two individuals fled the area when the officer attempted to speak with them.

Middleton High School Ferrell Middle School, Lomax Elementary School, Potter Elementary, Lockhart Elementary School and Young Middle School all were locked down for about an hour as a precautionary measure.

Officers will remain on campus until all children have left.

Investigators said a police K9 was able to lead officials to the gun used in Wednesday's shooting. The K9 located it near a fence the suspect jumped on 26th Street.

So far, it does not appear anyone was injured.

Officers are working to identify the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tampa police.
