HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Detectives are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Mango.

It happened Tuesday at 3:17 p.m. at a RaceTrac gas station at the intersection of County Road 579 & E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd.

Two deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant to Justin Bryant for auto theft.  A spokesperson says Bryant tried to run over the two deputies, and they opened fire.  Bryant was shot at least once in the chest.

The deputies weren't hurt.

Officials said Bryant was airlifted to TGH where they say he is in stable condition.

The Sheriff's Office said Bryant has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle on a Law Enforcement Officer. They say Bryant has been arrested dozens of times in the past.

The HCSO said Detectives Patrick Saunders and Jeff Fender are the deputies who fired their weapons and they have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
