ST PETERSBURG, FL -

The Coast Guard said a good samaritan rescued a boater that was reported missing Thursday morning.

Coast Guard crews, along with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews and Citrus County Sheriff's Office marine unit crews spent the morning searching 51-year-old Efstathios Moumouris near the Fort Island boat ramp after he was reported overdue by his wife.

Moumouris' wife contacted partner agencies, which relayed the report to the Coast Guard after Moumouris left Wednesday in his 16-foot boat and did not return.

Search crews located his 16-foot boat nine miles west of the boat ramp at approximately 4 a.m., without Moumouris aboard.

Around 1:30pm Thursday afternoon, officials said the missing boater was rescued by a good samaritan.
