JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Johnson City Police hope autopsy results will reveal what caused the death of an infant at the Knob Creek Apartments, to help them determine the next move in their investigation.

Lt. Steve Sherfey told us a 16-month-old baby boy named Alexander Kian Paul was found unresponsive in his crib at the apartment complex Tuesday.  Sherfey says Paul was pronounced dead at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Investigators tell us a man at the apartment complex called 911.  Police tell us they took statements from several people at the scene, including the apartment manager, Angeila Sliger.

Sliger told us she got the news through a heart-breaking phone call.

"I called her cell and she stated that her baby had passed away.  He is a sweet child," said Angeila Sliger, Manager at the Knob Creek Apartments.

Police tell us at this time they have no one in custody.  The baby's autopsy will be performed at the Quillen College of Medicine.
