Deputies: woman hit unmarked Sheriff's vehicle

Posted: Updated:
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Deputies are investigating a crash involving an unmarked Sheriff's vehicle that sent three people to the hospital.

It happened August 20 around 10:00 AM at 1100 9th St W. in Bradenton.  According to the report, a bicyclist cut right in front of an unmarked Sheriff's Office vehicle.  Detective Jeff Herba, who was behind the wheel, slowed down, activated his blue lights, and started to make a u-turn in order to pull over the bicyclist.

That's when deputies say a car driven by Denise White hit the driver's side of the detective's car, and pushed it sideways.

White said she saw the car stop, so she went to pass him.  She said that she did not see blue lights.

White had three other people in her car, including Britnei White, 25, and two children, ages 5 and 7.  Denise and Britnei White were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  The report states Detective Herba was also injured.  The two young children were not hurt.
