Baby giraffes strut their stuff at Busch Gardens

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Baby giraffes born at Busch Gardens in June are out and about in the Edge of Africa area of the park.

Cupid, a 15-year-old giraffe, welcomed her seventh calf on June 11.  The male calf weighed 188 pounds and was more than 6 feet tall, Busch Gardens representatives said.

Tesa, an 18-year-old giraffe, had her sixth calf a week later.  The female calf weighed 145 pounds  and stood 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Giraffes are the tallest mammals on the planet.  The reticulate giraffes are easy to spot with their "net-like" pattern of brown and orange spots and thick white lines.  The pair could grow up to be 16-18 feet tall.

Guests can meet the new babies on the Serengeti Plain. The best view is from the Serengeti Train.

The baby giraffes do not have names yet.
