Construction will close I-275 Westshore area inTampa

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Parts of Interstate 275 near Tampa's Westshore area will be closed for traffic from late Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning, according to Florida Department of Transportation.

FDT said all traffic in both directions on I275 will be detoured from 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday because construction crews need to take down an overhead sign truss that spans all lanes on the interstate.

FDT suggested the following detours to drivers:

1. DETOUR for Northbound I-275: Use Exit 39A to eastbound SR 60 (Kennedy Blvd.). Go east on Kennedy to West Shore Boulevard, then north on Westshore to the northbound I-275 entrance ramp.

2. DETOUR for Southbound I-275: Use Exit 40A to Westshore Boulevard. Go north to Cypress Street. Go west on Cypress. Turn left to enter southbound I-275 after crossing under SR 60 (Memorial).

3. DETOUR for Eastbound SR 60 to Northbound I-275: Continue past I-275 "loop" entrance ramp onto eastbound Kennedy Boulevard. Go north on Westshore Boulevard to the northbound I-275 entrance ramp.

4. DETOUR for Southbound I-275 to Westbound SR 60: Use Exit 40A to Westshore Boulevard. Go north on Westshore. Turn left onto Spruce Street and go west to the westbound SR 60 ramp next to Tampa International Airport.

FDT officials hope to have the project finished before 5am on Wednesday.
