Elite 8: Vincent Jackson | Jesuit High LB

Every day, people ask Vincent Jackson the same question: Is he related to the Bucs' wide receiver with the same name.

He isn't.

This Vincent Jackson plays linebacker for Jesuit High.

But as soon as the more famous Jackson signed with the Bucs, the younger one sent him a tweet. "It said, ‘There's only room for one Vincent Jackson here in Tampa.' I'm pretty sure he got the message," Jackson recalled. "I'm trying to claim this city to be mine."

He's that confident, and he's pretty talented too.  The three-year starter racked up 13.5 sacks last season.

And with a 6-3, 245-pound body, Jackson already has the size of a college linebacker. That's why he has almost 40 scholarship offers.

"Size doesn't define me, to be honest," Jackson said. "I have more heard than anyone I know of."

"A lot of guys are big," said Jesuit coach Matt Thompson. "But somebody that big who has the grades and the character that he possesses, that's kind of rare. College coaches know that so they flock to him."

Big-name schools like Alabama and Ohio State have offered Jackson a scholarship, but he's strongly considering staying home and playing for USF. "The thought about playing for you hometown school and making your home town better for people to come in is more appealing," he said.

Maybe there is room for two Vincent Jacksons in Tampa after all.
