Woman found decomposing in Largo home

LARGO, FL (WFLA) -

Largo Police say the body of a woman found in a Largo home Tuesday has been identified.

Officers say 68-year-old Geneva Smith Chambers was found dead Tuesday morning by a lawn maintenance worker.

Detectives investigating the case at 1420 Alexander Way say there were no signs of foul play.

According to detectives, Chambers was residing at this residence at the time of her death.

Police say court records indicate foreclosure notices were initiated in October of 2009 and the latest documented contact with Chambers occurred during a pawn transaction in April of 2010.

Interviews with neighbors also confirmed they believed that Chambers had abandoned the property as a result of the foreclosure during 2010.

All utilities were subsequently found to have been disconnected in June of 2010 and notices on the home supported a foreclosure was in-process.  Chambers had an estranged relationship with her family who lives in the Miami area and was described by neighbors as a recluse.

Neighbors continuously maintained the exterior of the home unaware of her death.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
