Missing swimmer near Dunedin Causeway found

Posted: Updated:
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -

A swimmer who went missing near North Paula Drive by the Dunedin Causeway Friday morning and was rescued in a few hours, was possibly involved in multiple burglaries, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies said.

Daren Nailos, 36, reported Jessica Frehe, 36, missing around 5 o'clock Friday morning. Several agencies started search and rescue operation by the bridge.

Nailos told deputies the two had gone swimming together and he lost sight of her. While searching for Frehe, deputies saw her car driving off. When they pulled it over, they saw that Frehe was behind the wheel.

While detectives were investigating this incident, they received reports about burglarized cars and a boat in the area.

The investigation revealed Nailos and Frehe had broken into a boat, stole a few things and started swimming back to shore. That's when Nailos lost Frehe.

Deputies arrested both Nailos and Frehe for burglary. PCSO will continue to investigate if the two had been involved in car burglaries.
