Manatee County launches 'Back to School' information line

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A special "Back-to-School Parent Information Phone Line" will be available to answer questions about the start of the new school year beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

The Back-to-School Parent Information Phone Line number is (941) 782-1BUS, or (941) 782-1287.

The purpose of the phone line is to answer questions regarding registration, school zones, bus stop locations and times, home education and other questions that often arise at the beginning of a new school year. The Back-to-School Parent Information Phone Line answered thousands of calls last year and this year's phone bank is expecting another strong surge of calls leading up to the start of school.

Times for the phone line are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from Wednesday, August 7, 2013, through Friday, August 16, 2013. Manatee District students begin the 2013-2014 school year on Monday, August 19, 2013, so times for the Back-to-School Parent Information Phone Line on Monday, August 19th and Tuesday, August 20th, will be from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
