POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Deputies have been combing through a tri-county area in Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties searching for 21-year-old Eleno Suarez.

Deputies say Suarez fired at deputies during a chase on Saturday, and he's been on the lam ever since.

Suarez is wanted for an armed home invasion robbery and carjacking in Frostproof.

On Saturday, he was spotted near a Frostproof convenience store at the intersection of US Hwy 27 and US Hwy 98.

Deputies say, he and five individuals fled the area in a Ford Focus.

Polk deputies attempted a traffic stop but Suarez, who was driving, led them on a chase and fired multiple shots at Polk deputies.

No one was injured.

Suarez lost control of the car in a rural area near State Road 64 and US 98 in Hardee County.

Deputies caught the five passengers but Suarez fled on foot, according to investigators.

Over the weekend, numerous agencies joined in the search, and even combed orange groves looking for him.

The manhunt eventually brought deputies to Avon Park.  Suarez's family lives in Frostproof, and they say they are worried about his safety.

Suarez's Uncle, Felipe Jaramillo said, "Who wouldn't be worried about their family member running from the police?"

Jaramillo added, "He's a good, caring guy. He's got a good heart."

Suarez's home sits empty while he's on the run.

Deputies have shut down their command post, but they're still patrolling the area and collecting information.

Along with his previous charges, Suarez now faces a charge of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

Suarez is considered armed and dangerous.

The Polk county sheriff's office is offering a five thousand dollar reward for information leading to his capture.

If you know anything that can help these deputies out, you can make an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
