Channel 8 van involved in I-4 crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A driver attempting to change lanes on I-4 lost control of her car and collided with a WFLA News Channel 8 news van, according to a preliminary report by Florida State Highway Patrol.

Officials say Agracelia Lykins, 42, was driving with her 2-year-old daughter Zoey on I-4 around 11:30am Thursday morning. Lykins attempted to move into the center lane, but steered back into her original lane because of a vehicle occupying the lane.

FHP said Lykins over-corrected and lost control of the car. Lykins' car spun into the into the exit lane to U.S. Highway 301.

James Hockett, 44, was driving a WFLA News Channel 8 live van on I-4 west. Officials said Hockett attempted to slow down and move to the right shoulder, but was unable to avoid the collision.

Investigators said the Mazda went off the interstate and overturned. Lykins and her daughter suffered minor injuries. The driver of the news van was not injured.
