Sarasota family heads to NY for 'America's Got Talent'

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A Sarasota family is on their way to New York to perform live on next week's 'America's Got Talent.'

"We've got a long road ahead of us," said John Nock. "From Sarasota and the Tampa Bay Area all the way to New York City, Radio City Music Hall, here we come."

The family and their six crew members will use a helium balloon to suspend John's wife, Alexandra, more than 70 feet in the air.

"I'm excited. I'm nervous," John said. "I don't know what to think but we're ready to go."

The biggest challenge is to take the aerosphere act that's typically elegant and slow-moving and fitting it into 90 seconds of live TV.

"Creating angelic flight in that fast period of time...we're going to do our best," John said.

Excitement seems to be outweighing nerves at this point.

"Radio City Music Hall is any performer's dream to perform at," Alexandra said.

"When I watched America's Got Talent last week and I got to see Radio City Music Hall knowing that we were headed there, it definitely settled in and is a little intimidating."

Family and friends from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Switzerland, Austria and Germany will be watching. The Nocks will perform on next Tuesday's show on News Channel 8. Out of a dozen acts only four will go on.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
