Police: armed carjacking on USF's Tampa campus

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

USF police say an individual wanted in connection with the carjacking of a woman on the University of South Florida Tampa campus Monday morning has been arrested. 

Police said they arrested Vladimir Matushevskiy in Marion County Monday afternoon. 

Early this morning, police say a man threatened a woman with a gun, took her car and drove off.

According to the USF Police report, the man in a white hoodie showed a small black hand gun and ordered the woman out of her car on the Parking Lot 33 in the Health Sciences area of the Tampa campus.

Police said it happened around 9 a.m. Monday. Officers set up a perimeter and contacted surrounding law enforcement agencies for help.

Officers said nobody was injured. Matuchevisky has been charged with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing to Elude, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest Without Violence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
