BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) -

While Manatee County Sheriffs Deputies search for the gunman or gunmen who shot up a Bradenton home, wounding a four year old boy, members of the church congregation next door pray for peace.

Dozens attended this morning's service at the Congregational United Church of Christ. The church owns the home where the shooting happened, the boy and his mother are tenants there.

Dr. Bob Sichta is the pastor at the church and addressed the shooting.

"It is 11:19. 24 hours ago, on this minute, a bullet penetrated the house next door, ricocheted off of something inside, and struck a four year old boy," Sichta told the congregation.

He says he doesn't know who's responsible, but he has names for them.

"When they do what they did yesterday, they say they are so indifferent to human life that I can only consider them bullies and cowards," Sichta said.

Sheriff's deputies spent hours searching for a newer model orange Dodge Challenger or Charger with 'spinner' rims.  Witnesses spotted that vehicle in the area where the shooting happened.  Investigators located that car, and now say they do not believe it was involved.

Deputies say the boy who was injured was shot in the head. Paramedics airlifted him to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.

Pastor Sichta says he's been in touch with the boy's mother, and is praying for his speedy recovery.

"Right now, we simply wish them well and want their child to physically recover as much as he can because emotionally, it's going to be a long time if every before that child recovers from this," said Sichta.

Manatee County Sheriff's Deputies are asking for anyone with any information on this shooting to contact the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2535 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
