Rare Chevys up for auction

Posted: Updated:

For antique car collectors, the Lambrecht auto collection just might be the best kept secret in Pierce, Nebraska. Everybody in town knows about it and now car lovers around the world are talking about it.

Walking inside the old Lambrecht Chevrolet Company is like stepping back into the 1960's.

In the main room, there are books stacked on shelves, car parts fill the stock room. The reality is not much has changed since the dealership closed more some 17 years ago.

Past the main room, is the true gem. It's an automotive time capsule so rare and so valuable it's hard to believe it actually exists.

During his 50 years in the business, Ray Lambrecht sold a lot of Chevy's out of his corner dealership in town. While Ray loved to sell cars, he didn't like to sell old ones. Cars traded in to him, he would not resell.

In all there are about 50 cars that have never been sold, titled or even driven.

Inside you'll find a '58 Cameo pickup truck with one mile on it. There's also a '64 Chevy Impala with just 11 miles on the odometer. In fact,  the original plastic covers the seats, and the yellowed window sticker still shows the price tag.

In all, there are more than 400 old antiques. Some are in better shape than others, but all of them are going up auction.

Auction organizers expect between 8,000-10,000 people in the town of only 1,700.
The two day auction is Saturday, September 28th and Sunday the 29th. For more information, go to VanDerBrink Auction's website.
