BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) -

Manatee High school assistant football coach Rod Frazier resigned Friday.

Frazier, 35, submitted a brief two-sentence letter of resignation to Superintendent Rick Mills.

"I feel my resignation is in the best interest of all involved, including the school system and Manatee High," Frazier wrote.

School district officials confirmed Frazier's resignation was effective immediately.

Frazier's resignation comes roughly a week after the state announced they were charging him with a slew of misdemeanors, after allegations surfaced that he groped students and teachers.

At the time Frazier's attorney, Eddie Mulock, said the claims were unfounded.

Following the charges, Superintendent Mills announced all staff would take place in training to identify suspected child abuse, before August 31.

Frazier's next court date is August 8. His attorney said his client will not be at the hearing. Instead, Mulock says he will file a written appearance, pleading not guilty to the charges against him.
