MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with trying to lure a young girl at the South Manatee Library.

Officials said Eric K. Ray approached a 12-year-old girl at the county library Wednesday afternoon. He asked her if she was bored and she replied that she was, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.   The suspect then asked her if she would like to accompany him outside, behind the library to "do a little work and make a little money."

Investigators said at one point the suspect pulled out money from his pocket, waiving it in front of the young girl.

The victim was able to walk away from the suspect and notified a library staffer who called authorities.

Ray was arrested at the library a short time later.
