CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) -

The teen sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a St. Petersburg Police officer will have to wait to see if his sentence will be reduced.

Nicholas Lindsey was sentenced to life without parole two years ago for the death of Officer David Crawford.  Lindsey was 16 at the time, but was tried as an adult.

Since Lindsey's trial, the Supreme Court ruled that it is unconstitutional to sentence juveniles to life in prison.

A new hearing on Lindsey's sentence is set for September.

Lindsey shot and killed Crawford when the officer tried to question him about a burglary.
