Number of NC people employed drops in June

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The number of people employed in North Carolina dropped by 10,958 in June, according to state officials, although state's seasonally adjusted June unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.8 percent.

The national rate also remained unchanged at 7.6 percent.

North Carolina's June 2013 unemployment rate was 0.8 of a percentage point lower than a year ago, the state said. The number of people employed decreased 10,958 over the month to 4,292,497, and increased 29,341 over the year.

The number of people unemployed increased 596 over the month to 416,767, and declined 33,782 over the year.
