AVERY COUNTY, NC (WJHL) -

A landslide in Avery County, NC that shut down a section of Highway 194 indefinitely has forced another family from their home.

Avery County resident, Claire Thompson, said she was informed Tuesday that her home was condemned.

Monday night's landslide destroyed two other homes but narrowly missed Thompson's house.

Thompson said she was told even though her home received no damage the bank behind it was too unstable and could come crashing down at any time.

Tuesday afternoon Thompson, along with family and friends, gathered up only the necessities to go and stay with her parents just across the street.
