DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police are investigating after a woman was robbed Tuesday night on the American Tobacco Trail near Otis Street.

According to police, a female was rollerblading on the American Tobacco Trail around 7:15 p.m. when a male armed with a gun approached her and took her phone.

Police said the suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt, red Adidas sneakers and a black doo-rag.

The suspect was last seen running on the American Tobacco Trail toward Otis Street, police said.

Tuesday night's robbery was just the latest incident on the American Tobacco Trail in Durham. On July 5, a man was robbed at gunpoint, also near Otis Street.

In October 2012, Durham police held a safety training session to teach people how to avoid becoming victims of a crime while using the trail.

In August 2012, Durham police started patrolling the American Tobacco Trail on utility terrain vehicles. The UTVs are equipped with blue and red lights as well as sirens.

There were more than a dozen incidents on the American Tobacco Trail in 2012.
