Video may be key to finding sexual predator

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

There are uneasy feelings at the Wayside Glen mobile home park off 14th street in Manatee County.  Young families with children are a common sight and everyone is well aware someone took a 5-year-old from this neighborhood and sexually attacked her. "It's my little neighbor. And she's kind of the same age as my granddaughters. So that kind of hurts knowing that her mom's going through all that," said Elosia Barron

Sheriff Brad Steube says it's important to get the attacker off the streets. "We want this guy. We want this guy as quickly as possible."

Security camera video from the India bazaar just north of Wayside Glen shows the man deputies are after, with the 5 year old who he kidnapped. He lures her to the candy counter and buys her a "baby bottle pop."

Moments later, they say he walked her to an abandoned home in the "Aloha Estates" mobile home park, where he choked her and sexually attacked her.

A neighbor who knows the victim saw her leave the home with messy hair. "And she comes out running and crying. And she was really crying. And she just ran back home," said Vanessa Garay.

Deputies say the panicked attacker is then caught by another camera on an "M-Cat" bus, pleading to go to Sarasota. On the tape, in the distance, you can see the little girl running to her home.

The Sheriff says, this horrible situation can be a lesson to parents about predators and their devious methods. "Sometimes it's a puppy or an animal or a dog. This time it appears that it was candy, and actually going into a convenience store and buying candy. Textbook," said Sheriff Steube.
