Tampa police raid battery store, seize stolen property

Posted: Updated:

Tampa Police officers raided a battery store in North Tampa early Tuesday suspected of selling stolen car batteries.

TPD officers seized the stolen goods from the Cash for Batteries store on Nebraska Avenue. According to a TPD report, suspects would steal batteries from businesses with fleets or safety equipment and then sell them to the store.

TPD officials told us there were multiple statutes in Florida that regulate the sale of batteries. These statutes prevent businesses from buying stolen goods.

Officers have not released the names of the suspects. Police continue to investigate.
