BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) -

Manatee County Sheriff's investigators say a man kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 5-year-old in a Bradenton trailer park Monday afternoon.

The child was outside playing with a friend in her neighborhood when the suspect lured her to a nearby store.

Manatee Sheriff Brad Steube said at around 12:30 on Monday, the man lured the little girl into they India Bazaar convenience store. A store manager said while there he bought her a baby bottle pop, it's a type of candy.

The store manager said the suspect was a frequent customer. He often came in to purchase cigarettes. The manager didn't know the man's name.

Deputies say the man then lured the girl into an abandoned trailer and sometime over the next 15 minutes he sexually assaulted her. The child managed to escape and run home. A neighbor told News Channel 8 she saw the disheveled little girl crying and running out of the mobile home park.

The attacker ran toward the bus at 12:45. He banged on the door yelling "I need to get to Sarasota!" The bus driver didn't feel comfortable allowing him aboard so he didn't let him in, according to the MCSO report.

The store manager is a friend of the little girl's parents. He put out a donation jar to help out the family.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office released video of the suspect early Tuesday morning. He is seen on the surveillance video frantically trying to board the bus. Another video released by MCSO shows the attacker and the girl at the convenience store.

The suspect is described as a 5'10" black man who weighs about 220 pounds with a muscular build.  He has short hair or could be balding.  He was last seen shirtless, wearing baggy jean shorts and dark colored tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
