Former NFL player leaves kid in car, goes to strip club

CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) -

A former NFL player from Pinellas County is facing child abuse charges after leaving a 3-year-old girl in a parked car in Clearwater Sunday evening while going to a strip club.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Monty Ray Grow, 41, of Redington Beach, drove to the parking lot of Drive Time off Highway 19 North and parked the car there, leaving the young girl unattended while going he went to the Diamond Dolls strip club.

When officials arrived, the girl's grandparents had already found her and taken her out of the car.

While the PCSO deputies were investigating, Grow ran out of the strip club and rushed towards the car. He admitted to leaving the girl in it.

Grow spent 3 years in the NFL, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in '94 and the Jacksonville Jacquars  from '95-'96.

Grow was arrested and charged with child abuse. The girl wasn't injured.
