Pastor throws hissy fit, calls out parishioners

Posted: Updated:

One Oklahoma pastor is fed up with parishioners who come to church tired.

Jim Sandridge is the pastor at the Immanuel Baptist Church of Skiatook. During a regular service in May, he began calling out church-goers that were nodding off, sleeping or that did not attend church every Sunday.

A video excerpt of the sermon appeared on YouTube. In the video, Sandridge can be seen stopping his sermon mid-service and calling out a person for nodding off. The video, titled "Jim Sandridge Throws A Hissy Fit," has been viewed more than a quarter of a million people.  The video attracted more than two thousand comments ranging from concern to outrage.

"And where have you been…? I noticed on the calendar I'm supposed to marry ya'll. What makes you think I'd marry you? You're one of the sorriest church members I have. You're not worth fifteen cents," Pastor Standridge can be heard saying to one parishioner.

According to Pastor Sandridge's bio on the church's website, "Jim toes the line, counsels with the Word of God, and has a heart for God and the church."

A sudden lurch in a creeping landslide in the northwest Wyoming resort town of Jackson split a house in two and forced workers to abandon efforts to stabilize the hillside.
No one can say when the mountainside collapsing into this Wyoming resort town will give way. But it appears increasingly likely that when it does, it's going to take a piece of Jackson with it.
