Shots fired at parking lot brawl in St. Pete

ST PETERSBURG -

A midnight brawl and shooting in the parking lot of a St Pete restaurant injured two people Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

Shots were fired at the parking lot of Hiro's Steakhouse and Sushi Bar in the 5000 block of 4th Street.

When officers arrived to the parking lot,  they saw a crowd of people gathered near the restaurant.  Officers told us, two groups had been involved in a fight.  An argument at the restaurant a day earlier might have caused the fight, according to the witness statements.

Police say shell casings were found at the scene, and officers discovered two people had been shot.  Friends took one victim, an 18-year-old woman to Bayfront Medical Center with a gunshot wound; the second victim, a 20-year-old male was at a near-by gas station waiting for a rescue team, according to the report.

Officers say both victims were treated and released.  They have not released their names.

One person was taken into custody who had damaged two vehicles with a baseball bat. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Aron T. Headley. He was charged with two counts of felony criminal mischief.

Police continue to investigate the case.

Detectives are still following up on witness's statements and attempting to identify the shooting suspects involved.
