TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Tampa Police Department welcomes its newest K-9 recruit, a bloodhound puppy named Blu, officers told us.

Richard Gonzmart donated the 10-week old puppy to the department. K-9 officer Dave Savage, who is also new to the unit, will become Blu's partner.

Savage is leash-training him and soon they will hit the streets to get Blu acquainted with the city's smells and sounds.

Blu is also TPD's first dog with a blog: http://tpdpolicedogwithablog.blogspot.com/. There, you can find the latest information about Blu's training and work with Tampa Police.

Blu will meet and greet reporters later today - stay with wfla.com for more pictures.
