Fundraiser held in Tampa for library rape survivor

Posted: Updated:

Organizers in Tampa held a fundraiser on Saturday for the survivor of a rape that occurred at a Bay area library.

Back in 2008 the young woman, now known as Queena, was brutally raped, beaten and left to die outside of the Bloomingdale Library in Brandon.

Community supporters held the fundraiser at the Grillsmith Restaurant in South Tampa, charging a $20 donation and selling raffle tickets for gift baskets.

They are also selling "Totes for Queena", which are fashionable large utility totes.

You can keep up with Queena's progress on her website:  joinqueena.com.
