Winter Haven teen shot near Garden Center

WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) -

Winter Haven Police are currently investigating an overnight shooting that resulted in a 17-year-old male, being airlifted to a local hospital.

On Friday night, at approximately 1:18 a.m., officers were in the area of the Winter Haven Garden Center located at 715 3rd St., NW, where large crowds had gathered outside after an event at the facility.

Police say, as officers approached to disburse the crowd, gunshots were heard.  17-year-old Terrance Tyrone was struck in the upper body in the parking lot of the Winter Haven Senior Center, which is directly across from the Garden Center.

The teen was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he is currently listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police continue to investigate.
