Woman grabbed while jogging on Duke trail

DURHAM, N.C. -

Duke University and Durham Police are investigating an incident after a female jogger was grabbed on the Duke trail Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday on the trail near Cornwallis Road. Authorities say the jogger was grabbed and pulled from behind, but was able to get away and sustained only minor injuries.

Duke posted the safety alert on its website. The message was also sent out to all Duke students, faculty and staff

The suspect is described as a light-skinned male in his late 20s or early 30s. He is about 5'6" tall with a medium build. He was wearing black pants, a black tank-top, white shoes and a red baseball cap.  

Anyone with information related to the incident are asked to contact the Duke University Police Department at 919-684-2444.
