A waterspout in the canal between homes caused some minor damage in the area just South of Weedon Island Monday night.
Broken glass and debris littered the backyard of the Martino home on 87th Ave. North. "The dock is the most amazing thing, the wind lifted it up and plopped it in our neighbor's porch," said Melissa Wolcott-Martino.
Wolcott-Martino received an emergency alert tornado warning on her cell phone minutes before the winds hit.
"All of a sudden this huge wind came, so we slammed the door, ran into the bathroom because we heard that's what you're supposed to do," explained Melissa Wolcott-Martino.
She says at first she didn't take the tornado warning seriously because she thought it was for the general area.
"We've lived here 28 years and they always talk about tornadoes, and we never pay attention really because nothing's ever happened, so we will now pay attention," said Wolcott-Martino
The storm spawned a tornado warning to be issued at 8:22 PM Monday night. The National Weather Service allowed the warning to expire at 8:45 PM.
There were no reports of injuries or serious structural damage.
