Fayetteville woman recovering after being hit by stray bullet

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A Fayetteville woman who thought she had been hit by lightning was actually hit by a bullet, according to police.

The victim was sitting at her computer in her apartment when she was struck by something in her head. The woman and a friend later found a bullet hole in the wall.

Officers were called out to the victim's apartment in the 6400 block of Applecross Drive around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment and is listed in fair condition. 

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities will release additional information when it becomes available.
