The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says a preliminary autopsy, performed on Monday, determined that a 3-year-old boy who was left in a car for hours while his family was at a funeral on Saturday died from hyperthermia.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said they got a call about an unresponsive child around 4:20 PM on Saturday afternoon, from a home in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue E., in Palmetto.
EMS officials also responded to the scene, and pronounced Kyrese Dwayne Anderson, 3, dead.
Deputies discovered that family members took the 3-year-old and two other children to their babysitter's home before the family headed to a funeral. Investigators say Anderson was accidentally left in the car, while the two other children, ages 4 and 5, went into the babysitter's house. The parents left for the funeral thinking all the children were inside.
When the family returned hours later, they found Kyrese in the vehicle, and called 911.
The parents of the child are 29 year old Robert Anderson and 30 year old Amanda Jo Anderson of Lehigh Acres.
A statement from the Manatee Sheriff's Office said that no one had been charged. The release added that it appeared to be a tragic accident, however, the investigation was ongoing.
