Posted: Updated:
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Sarasota native Nik Wallenda is just days away from his next big stunt.  He is out west preparing for his high wire walk across the Grand Canyon.

He has been practicing for his big walk in his hometown of Sarasota for weeks.

Wallenda will be doing the walk without a safety net or harness.  He will walk on a steel cable 15-hundred feet across the Grand Canyon.  This is the highest the 34-year-old Wallenda has ever attempted.

Friday morning, Nik Wallenda will be live on the TODAY show on NBC to talk about his Grand Canyon walk.

You can see this segment LIVE Friday morning around 7:40am on WFLA-TV, Newschannel 8.

The big walk across the Grand Canyon will be broadcast on the Discovery Channel on Sunday night.
