I recommend Acai Berry Juice that you can find in the refrigerated section of the grocery store next to the Orange Juice because it contains 16,000 mg of Acai Berry puree - plus they add 500% of the Daily Value of Vitamin B12 and other B Vitamins, which further support healthy hair, skin and nails!
2. Hands, Feet and Elbows
Sea Salt and Coconut Oil - One of my absolute MUSTS for spring and summer is to exfoliate and moisturize my elbows, hands and feet. My favorite way to do this is to loofa them in the shower using a sea salt and coconut oil scrub. You can use the scrub as an all-over body exfoliator too, to bring a healthy glow to your skin. To moisturize elbows, hands and feet, I add a little more coconut oil after the scrub and massage it in. It's gentle, pure and helps your body retain moisture.
It's important to note that summertime means "sandal time" and our feet are in full view most of the day. Since feet are farthest away from the heart and extremities in general tend to receive less blood flow and nutrients, it helps to exfoliate regularly and apply a healing and moisturizing oil. Babying and nurturing these hard working appendages will help us age with grace and keep them healthy and in good working order!
Using Coconut Oil to cook with is also a great way to nourish the inside of your body and help gain a glow from the inside out!
3. RESVERATROL – Anti-aging
Resveratrol is an amazing compound that is found in Red Wine and is loaded with antioxidants that fight free radicals and support a youthful appearance. You could drink a few glasses of red wine per day to get resveratrol, but there are better, healthier ways to get resveratrol without a hangover. You can add grapes, berries or pomegranates to your diet, but the most potent form of resveratrol is found in Japanese knotweed and is available in liquid supplement or juice form. There is a juice that I recommend you drink daily called Pomegranate & Berries with Resveratrol, which you can find in the refrigerated section of grocery stores next to the OJ, this juices serves up the same amount of resveratrol as 50 glasses of wine in every 8 ounce serving - amazing!
4. Baking Soda
Baking soda is an incredible tool for several beauty rituals. Baking soda has an alkaline PH of 9, therefore it is incredibly calming to the skin. Baking soda also has an anti-bacterial and anti-infection quality and can be used as a skin and facial exfoliate. If the summer brings heat rash or breakouts to your face, get a soft washcloth and add baking soda to water, and gently rub your face, then hold the warm washcloth on your face for several minutes. You will be left with a clean sensation and it will calm your heat rash.
Baking soda is wonderful substitute to expensive bath salt soaks. For $1.00, you can add ½ cup of baking soda to your bath to neutralize acids on the skin and help wash away oil and perspiration. Your hair will also feel silky smooth. Baking soda even gets rid of product build up in your hair… Sprinkle a small amount into your palm along with your favorite shampoo. The baking soda will help remove the residue that styling products leave behind so your hair is cleaner and more manageable. Baking soda uses are almost as endless as it is inexpensive! It is a GREAT PRODUCT!
Pycnogenol®, is a plant extract that comes from the well-aged bark of France's coastal pine trees. It has been shown to support beautiful hair, skin and nails, as well as cardiovascular health. It is thought to rejuvenate systems that may break down with age through its antioxidant/free-radical scavengers.
The Pycnogenol® formulation I like is Pure Health's available at WalMart – it contains Hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the human body, which is thought to support skin health and healthy aging by helping to lay down the foundation of healthy skin through hydration and a youthful appearance.
