CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) -

Staff of the turtle department of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium released a loggerhead turtle back into the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday.

The aquarium workers said, the loggerhead they named Tina joined the rehabilitation facility in April. She was discovered floating in the water off Manor Beach, near New Port Richey. Workers said she had suffered extreme weight loss and appeared tired.

"Tina's case was unique, and there were many ups and downs with her, but they got her in stable condition," aquarium officials said.

They released 200-pound 40-year-old Tina into the wild Tuesday afternoon.
