TB Rays' Alex Cobb released from hospital

Posted: Updated:
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb has left Bayfront Medical Center, one day after he was hit in the right ear by a line drive.

Cobb tweeted (@Acobb53) Sunday morning from the hospital before his release: "Want to say thank you to our All-star trainer Ron Porterfield and the doctors @bayfront hospital. Woke up with only a minor headache today."

A man at the hospital says he saw Cobb walking out with his wife.  Joe Roman says Cobb's head was bandaged, but when Roman wished him good luck, "he [Cobb] gave me a thumbs-up."

Cobb was hit on the right ear by a liner off the bat of Kansas City's Eric Hosmer in the fifth inning on Saturday night.

The team says Cobb will be placed on the seven-day concussion list.

There was no timetable for when Cobb will rejoin the rotation.
