Tampa Fire Rescue officials report that on Saturday units responded to an apartment fire at 5715 Stevens Court in Tampa.  When first responders arrived at the complex, residents already evacuated the building.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the third floor fire. Officials say the fire was confined to the kitchen of an apartment.  It took Firefighters about ten minutes to get the fire under control.  No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

A fire investigation was performed by Tampa FireMarshall's Office investigator Bill Mann. Investigator Mann determined the cause of the fire to be an accidental cooking fire.  Fire officials say the fire damage was confined to the apartment's kitchen with estimated damages to be approximately $3000.

The Red Cross assisted a family of three (one adult female and two children) with temporary housing. All other residents were allowed back into there homes.

Tampa Fire Rescue used approximately 20 firefighters to battle the blaze.
