OMAHA, Neb. -

A merchandise booth peddling College World Series souvenirs was selling "official" coffee mugs bearing the logo of the wrong "Carolina" to make it to the tournament.

Merchandise of all types is sold in Omaha during the 10-day tournament, and with the final teams not being solidified until a week before the big show, vendors often scramble for souvenirs to sell.

This can sometimes lead to printing errors.

The N.C. State Radio Network tweeted a photo Friday afternoon of a 2013 CWS coffee mug displaying the eight team logos around the official NCAA College World Series logo.

The logos for N.C. State, LSU, Indiana and Oregon State were emblazoned on the left side, while the right featured UCLA, Mississippi State, Louisville and South Carolina. The problem is the University of North Carolina beat South Carolina Monday, sending USC back to Columbia and the Tar Heels to Omaha.

Shortly after the error was noticed, the commemorative mugs were pulled from the shelves of the merchandise booth inside the lobby of the Hilton Omaha.

The Tar Heels stamped their ticket to Omaha with a 5-4 win over South Carolina in a winner-take-all game three of the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

North Carolina will see a familiar opponent in Omaha -- the Tar Heels will open CWS play Sunday against instate and Atlantic Coast Conference rival North Carolina State.

The last time the teams met, UNC won an 18-inning marathon on the way to the ACC tournament title over Memorial Day weekend.
