RALEIGH, N.C. -
A Cary man has been charged in connection with a hit and run early Saturday morning that killed one teen and severely injured another.
Adetoye Taoheed Adekanmbi, 33, is charged with two counts of felony hit and run causing bodily injury or death, and with driving while license revoked.
Around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Natalie Chidlaw and Meghan Clark, both 18 years old, were hit by a car at the intersection of Dixie Trail and Hillsborough Street near N.C. State.
Chidlaw died at the scene and Clark was rushed to Wake Med with severe injuries. Clark is expected to recover from her injuries and is currently listed in good condition at WakeMed Hospital.
A dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the scene heading west.
A tip from a member of the public led officers to the 100 block of Chalfont Way in Cary, where they located the suspect's car. A short time later, Adekanmbi, who lives near where the vehicle was located, was detained.
Adekanmbi was later charged and was being held at the Wake County Detention Center under a $64,000 secured bond.
