Miami-area sports bar's deck collapses, fans go in water

MIAMI, FL -

Two people are in serious condition after the deck at a popular Miami sports bar came crashing down Thursday night.

It happened at as nearly 100 people packed the deck of Shucker's Bar & Grill cheering on their hometown heat in the NBA Finals.

"You just hear crunch, crunch, curiosity and then bam, pillar coming down, pillar, pillar and people screaming, people yelling.. pieces of wood hitting the water," said witness Anthony Herrera.

Witnesses say with little notice the deck gave way, dumping people into the shallow waters of Biscayne Bay.  

"When we looked, part of the deck just caved in...there was a huge splash... there were people in the water," witness Marie Torras said.

Bystanders like Eric Williams jumped into the water to help.

"I actually went into the water. and we - we pushed people up. My son was pulling people up out of the water. Even some of the first responders. Cause when we got in there --- little slimy," said Williams.

First responders immediately began assessing those injured.

Two people are listed in serious condition.

More than two dozen others were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
