WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) -

A Winter Haven mother and her son have been arrested for arson.

Tamara Wesson and John Marshall Nelson are charged with second degree arson of an unoccupied dwelling, and burglary.

Winter Haven firefighters responded to a house fire at a vacant home on 21st St. SW early on the morning of June 10.  At the same time, Winter Haven police were investigating a suspicious vehicle just a block away.  They say the two people in that car were Wesson and Nelson.

A witness later told police they saw Wesson and Nelson walking out of a driveway near the home that was on fire.  Through interviews with neighbors, police discovered the pair used to live in the burned home.  Officers located a crowbar and some rubber gloves inside of the vehicle that Wesson and Nelson were in, which raised more suspicion.  Wesson and Nelson were ultimately arrested for loitering and prowling.

Investigators later determined that Wesson's mother, Clara Ann Harms, owned the vacant home that was burned.  The home was in foreclosure.

Wesson and Nelson are in the Polk County Jail without bond.
