Daytime Magician Johnny Womack - WFLA News Channel 8

Daytime Magician Johnny Womack

Posted: Updated:

Johnny was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in October of 1982.  Growing up Johnny was always a fan of Magic. Johnny's interest only grew when TV specials such as "World's Greatest Magic" and "Magic of Lance Burton", aired.

When Johnny reached high school, he took his love of magic to a more tangible level. In 1999, during his Spanish II class, he met his future best friend, Tanoodej (T. J.) Anutarakul.  T. J. was performing a slue of coin effects which caught Johnny's eye.  Johnny took it upon himself to learn from T. J. and that's when Johnny's magic really took off.  T. J. and Johnny would take their magic on the streets of Orlando and bedazzled a myriad of spectators.  "It's one thing to perform for your friends and family, but to perform for complete strangers, that's a whole other experience" -T. J.

Johnny heeded T. J.'s advice and began performing every chance he had and began to catch the notice of other groups and businesses.  Johnny began doing corporate shows for several companies and continued to grow his clientele.  Johnny has performed for Blockbuster Video, Inc., Walt Disney World, 7-11 Convenience Stores, George's Music, Applied Building Development and even performed for the Tampa bay rays on field at Tropicana field!

Johnny also delves into the exciting world of Restaurant Magic, performing intimate miracles just inches away from guests at their tables.
In January of 2010, Johnny made a documentary on his life in Magic and featured some effects that he's performed over the years.  With the help of fellow friend and independent filmmaker, Sean Wist, Johnny's Documentary, The Other Side of Me, received local attention as it was played at the Enzian Theatre in Orlando, Florida. You can view a trailer for Johnny's documentary here.

Johnny's original magic was featured in MAGIC Magazine (the magic's industry leading magazine).

In September of 2011, Johnny was finally able to bring his magic to a bigger venue, The Orlando Improv!

Johnny's close-up magic has much variety. Blending comedy and elegant sleight-of-hand, he helps add that special touch to events, whether it be weddings, family reunions or birthday parties.
